宋莊美術(shù)館成立于2006年10月6日，位于北京市通州區(qū)宋莊藝術(shù)園區(qū)內(nèi)，共占地5000平米。宋莊美術(shù)館共兩層，內(nèi)部包括展廳、學(xué)術(shù)報(bào)告及放映廳、辦公室、A計(jì)劃藝術(shù)品商店和藝術(shù)書店等。室內(nèi)展廳的最高處挑高達(dá)到16米，是迄今為止中國(guó)的美術(shù)館中室內(nèi)挑高高度最高的。宋莊美術(shù)館主要舉辦當(dāng)代藝術(shù)的展演活動(dòng)，進(jìn)行國(guó)際當(dāng)代藝術(shù)交流，并通過這些展覽，關(guān)注中國(guó)當(dāng)代藝術(shù)的發(fā)展動(dòng)向和最新思潮，推動(dòng)中國(guó)當(dāng)代藝術(shù)與國(guó)際文化藝術(shù)的交流。

藝術(shù)批評(píng)家栗憲庭先生出任首任館長(zhǎng)。

2012年5月，方蕾女士出任宋莊美術(shù)館館長(zhǎng)。

Song Zhuang Art Center is located in the Song Zhuang Art Community, Tong Zhou District in Beijing. The project was initiated and organized by the eminent art critic Li Xianting in 2004. With financial support from the local authority, the construction of SZAC was successfully completed in Oct. 2006, and the center has since been open to the public. Li Xianting was appointed to be the director and continues to hold the position at beginning. Fang lei is currently the director at SZAC. The main part of this two‐storey art center occupies a land area of 5000 square meters. It consists of three exhibition spaces, one auditorium, one screening room, offices, Plan A art store, storage space and a art book store.

Li Xianting was appointed to be the director as first director.
