墻美術館創(chuàng)建于2006年，是按國際性美術館規(guī)范化運營的民營美術館。作為公共領域中重要的中介性機構，墻美術館將積極參與并推動中國當代藝術健康發(fā)展，促進中國當代藝術與國際的交流和競爭，為促進中外藝術的交流以及建立健康有序的藝術市場而做出努力。

    墻美術館以成為中國乃至國際的知名當代美術館為核心目標，將美術館作為展示中國當代藝術、當代藝術流派思想為平臺的同時，更加注重中國藝術國際化之路包含支持有潛力的當代年輕藝術家的發(fā)展。與此同時，墻美術館將致力于開放地面對世界當代藝術，并努力發(fā)掘體現(xiàn)本土現(xiàn)代性特點的優(yōu)秀作品和藝術家，為建立良性互動的國際藝術氛圍作出貢獻。

    墻美術館希望通過系列展覽真正展現(xiàn)中國當代藝術的現(xiàn)狀，關注那些具有本土現(xiàn)代性特點，將深層文化傳統(tǒng)轉化為當代藝術語言的中國當代藝術家。在中國藝術市場的大環(huán)境下，墻美術館將保持對藝術市場的清醒認識以及對學術立場一貫的嚴肅性。墻美術館將著力于打造展覽，建立廣泛的國內外聯(lián)絡機制，致力于中國當代藝術的宣傳與推廣工作，并通過與國內以及國際策展人的合作，策劃國際性學術活動，進行高水平的學術交流。在中國文化的語境下，墻美術館將逐步形成持續(xù)穩(wěn)定的學術體制，通過美術館設置的學術標準引導新的業(yè)界標準，從而進一步地推動中國當代藝術在國際中的發(fā)展。
